Nellore  is a city and headquarters of Potti Sri Ramulu Nellore District, formerly Nellore district.And ( fourth largest city )in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Ancient name of Nellore was "Vikrama Simhapuri".
Nellore is situated about 170 kilometres (110 mi) from Chennai on the Chennai-Kolkata national highway and about 453 kilometres (281 mi) south east of Hyderabad, the capital of Andhra Pradesh. It is located on the banks of the Penna river.
