Chennur is a major village in Gudur mandal in Nellore district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

The mica belt around Chennur is considered the 2nd biggest in the country. The mica deposits are located around chennur of gudur, Rapur and Atmakur mandals of the Nellore district. The muscovite, quartz, feldspar and vermiculite forms of mica are found around this area.

Weaving with hand looms is one of the main occupation of 30 percent of people. Chennur Silk was one of the famous handloom fabric that was manufactured in late 1970s. At present many varieties of saris and other fabrics are weaved. These handloom fabrics are exported to other countries.

Many rice mills are located in Chennur.

The lemon business has become one of the most successful business in Chennur. Lemons are provided to almost all parts of the Country and also exported to other countries.

Chennur is also surrounded by good agricultural fields and with aquaculture (prawn) production for different parts of India as well as export to other countries. Famous political leaders are originated from this place.

Gudur is the third largest town and municipality in Nellore District in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. Gudur is the largest division in Nellore and a very old municipality. The mica belt around Gudur is considered the 2nd largest in the country. The mica deposits are located in a 1000sq.km. area surrounding Gudur.

As of 2011 Census of India, the town had a population of 60,625. The total population constitute, 29,786 males, 30,839 females and 5,672 children, in the age group of 0–6 years. The average literacy rate stands at 74.06% with 44,901 literates, significantly higher than the national average of 73.00%

History

Alaganatha Swamy temple is a famous temple here. Later the town developed around this temple. It is the largest temple in Gudur. The Satavahanas, Cholas,Pallavas, Telugu Cholas, Kakatiyas, Vijayanagara kings, and Golkonda Nawabs ruled this area. The town is also linked with the history of Venkatagiri (ruled by the Yachendra family), which is close by, 42 km from Gudur.
Shridi Sai baba Temple, Narasingarao pet, Gudur, is an old temple, constructed at 1938, constructed upon the advice of baba.

Airports
Gudur's economy depends on agriculture, mica, lemons, and aquaculture. The mica belt around Gudur is considered the 2nd largest in the country. The mica deposits are located in a 1000sq.km. area covering Gudur, Sydapuram, Rapur & Atmakur mandals of the Nellore district. Muscovite, quartz, feldspar and vermiculitetype of mica are found around this area.
Asian Highway 45 (from Kolkatta to Chennai) is passes through Gudur. APSRTC played buses from Gudur to all most all major towns of Andhra Pradesh.
Gudur railway station is a major railway junction, located between Chennai Central and Viajayawada, with connections to Tirupathi, Chennai. This is one of the biggest railway junctions in Andhra Pradesh and a major junction of the Indian Railways. All trains towards North, East and North East India from Chennai, Tamil Nadu and Kerala pass through Gudur. On an ordinary day the total number of trains passing through are 140 to 150 trains in 24 hours, including 60-70 goods trains.

Languages
Telugu is the language of the land. The Telugu dialect in Gudur follows the general dialect spoken in and around Nellore district. But the distinctive feature of Gudur is the slow pace of the speech. "Endi mandhala ? " is Gudur Telugu for " how'z things going / Whats up ? " and "Endi eavvaram" is the Gudur Telugu for "What's the problem" Now some additional nationalities and languages are joined with Gudur people for power plant construction, and the population has increased.
Political representation
Gudur is one of the major towns of Nellore district. From 1985 onwards(as known) this constituency has been reserved for Scheduled Castes.
